Isla del Sol
Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) is an island in the southerly part of Lake Titicaca. It is part of the modern-day State of Bolivia as well as is part of the La Paz Division. Geographically, the terrain is rough; it is a rocky, hilly island with lots of eucalyptus trees. There are no motor vehicles or smooth roadways on the island. The main economic activity of the about 800 households on the island is farming, with fishing and tourist enhancing the subsistence economic climate. Of the numerous towns, Yumani and also Ch’allapampa are the biggest.
